چکیده
Bluetooth based networking is an emerging and promising technology that takes small area networking to an enhanced and better level of communication. Bluetooth specification supports piconet formation. However, scatternet formation remains open. The primary challenge faced for scatternet formation is the interconnection of piconets. This paper presents a review of the proposed approaches and the problems confronted for establishing scatternet for ad hoc networks specifically MANET. In this work, a comparison of the Blue layer algorithm with MMPI interface based algorithm on Bluetooth scatternet formation. The enhancement in the developed MMPI framework makes it a good option for scatternet applications. Keywords—Bluetooth; ad hoc network; piconet; scatternet; MANET

Bluetooth is a short-range ad hoc networking technology, which enables formation of inexpensive personal area networks with low power consumption. Using Bluetooth technology, a small number of closely located devices can be interconnected within a piconet. Building larger ad hoc networks is possible by interconnecting multiple piconets to form a scatternet. As the Bluetooth topology grows from ...

Bluetooth is a promising technology for personal/local area wireless communications. A Bluetooth scatternet is composed of simple overlapping piconets, each with a low number of devices sharing the same radio channel. A scatternet may have different topological configurations, depending on the number of composing piconets, the role of the devices involved and the configuration of the links. Thi...

Bluetooth ad hoc networks are constrained by a master/slave configuration, in which one device is the master and controls the communication with the slave devices. The master and up to seven active slave devices can form a small Bluetooth network called a piconet. In order to build larger network topologies, called scatternets, the piconets must be interconnected. Scatternets are formed by allo...
